As Salaam Alaikum

I recently read a refutation to the satanic verses story in a book called Sirat Al nabi and the orientalists by Muhammad Mohar Ali and than w/ further reading of ibn Ishaqs relating of the supposed incident it got me to wondering how long after the supposed satanic verses did the supposed correction come from Gabriel? And in this time frame how long before the news reached Abyssinia.. wich is the supposed reason for the companions to go back to Mekkah?

The way it reads, at least to me, is that things happend right away. That Muhammad pbuh was corrected right away.. but than the companions knew the news in abyssinia right away and came back right away.. all of this can't be happening right away. And if Muhammad pbuh was not corrected right away.. what sense does that make?

I'm just trying to set the timeline in my head because it seems to be a very confused aspect of the whole fabricated story.

- Never do I argue with a man with a desire to hear him say what is wrong, or to expose him and win victory over him. Whenever I face an opponent in debate I silently pray - O Lord, help him so that truth may flow from his heart and on his tongue, and so that if truth is on my side, he may follow me; and if truth be on his side, I may follow him.

Assalamu Alaikum.

Concerning the question of the satanic verses, the writers of the Sirah of the Prophet s.a.w., have different opinions concerning the news that arrived in Abissinia and about the correction. The only Dalil (proof) is the verse of the Quran which says "We never remove or forget any verse, another may come". But, insha-Allah more information would be given before the end of the Ramadhan.

Assalaamu alaikum.

I have heard much about such supposed 'satanic verses'...but I have read little in reference to it, nor have I heard of nor seen any proof of actuality of the original existence and then subtraction of such verses. Perhaps it has only been a ploy by the enemies of Allah and Islam, that they are instigating rumors of such verses? If they did exist at some time, does anyone have the quotations of such verses? or the precedence and recording of the reasoning of their revelation and then subtraction? I believe that the verse quoted by Brother Munir is evidence enough refuting that there was never any such verses, and that it is all a ploy by the enemies of Islam, trying to somehow distort the image and message of Islam.

as salaam alaikum

I was waiting to have enough time to type the verse in question and a bit of history and refutation to it. But never enough time to do all of that.. so I found a website that addresses the issue i didn't read all of it but it looks pretty good
