Prayer timings

Assalamu alikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu !

I am a bit confused about the prayer timing of Isha. I have been told by some people that the time for Isha ends at midnight. But what i have studied is that it ends before Fajr. However, it is preferable to pray it before midnight. Could i please be guided to the truth of the matter.

Every prayer should be prayed at the first time, any how Isha in most of the places it has a long timing, specially in winter. Between the Isha and Fajr we have the time if Tahajjud. So pray the Isha till midnight. Midnight does not mean 00 hours.
