Assalaamu alaikum.

I am hoping that you can answer this, brother Munir...or anyone else...with proper daleels in support of the answer. Someone has asked of me...and the following situation is the explanation.

A man was sitting in the masjid after fajr prayer, reciting Quran. He came upon a verse which requires sajda...'sajda tilawah'...or the sajda (prostration) of recitation. He is asking...is it best that he proceeds with the sajda at that particular time...even though it coincides with the rising of the sun...or should he delay the sajda until after the sunrise?

Wa-alaikum as-salaam.

First of all my apologies of replying very late. Concerning the Sijdah of Tilawah, it should be done at a time when prayer is allowed. We know that after Fajr we cannot pray any prayer, so in this way it is not recomended to do Sajdah at that time. Do, 15 to 20 minutes after sun rise.

Wa-salaam,
Sh Munir
