Islamic Republic urges world, especially Muslims, to help Palestinians

Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry in a statement called on all international fora and organizations as well as the world's governments and nations, especially Muslim states, to rush help to the oppressed Palestinian people.

The statement, issued to commemorate the first anniversary of Al-Aqsa Intifada as well as the Palestinian martyrs, said the anniversary is observed at a time when the racist Zionist regime is exploiting recent events in the U.S. and the world public opinion's attention to the incidents in its own favor and stepping up its crimes against Palestinians.

It said that now that the international community is pursuing a campaign against terrorism, it is necessary for international fora and organization to pay special attention to the Palestinian people, the main victims of terrorism.

It added that the organizations are required to condemn the racist and terrorist regime of the Zionist state and prevent continuation of anti-terrorist measures by the entity.

The statement said that under present conditions it is expected that the U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the U.N. Security Council take joint stances vis-a-vis escalation of tension by the Zionist regime.

It added that the U.N. is required to take speedy moves in line with its international mission and protection of global peace and security and guarantee security of Palestinian people.

The Foreign Ministry objected to the double-standard U.S. policy in campaign against terrorism and said the Zionist regime is symbol of state terrorism.

It stressed restoration of Palestinian people's rights, including their right to decide their fate and return to their homeland.
