A Word of Farewell and Thanks to our Readers
Friday, June 07 2002 @ 07:54 PM GMT
It is with much disappointment that the Palestine Chronicle must discontinue our publication, due to lack of financial resources.
The staff at the Palestine Chronicle would like to extend a heart-felt word of thanks to all who have been faithful contributors and readers throughout the past years. Our publication has been without question a labor of love, comprised of a team that gives so generously and a readership that expresses such strong support.
Our readership has grown by leaps and bounds, and as we hoped, we have successfully penetrated and influenced the mainstream media to consider the Palestinian perspective in regards to history as well as current affairs. For this, we would like to celebrate our success with you. However, it is with much disappointment that we must discontinue our publication, due to lack of financial resources.
Therefore, you will enjoy our reports, commentary and the other resources we provide until July 31, 2002, at which time the publication will come to a close. We sincerely hope that we have been a valuable source of information for you, and we extend our thanks for helping us to come
this far.
With unending gratitude and the warmest regards
The Team at the Palestine Chronicle

An Important Update to our 'Farewell' Message
Monday, June 10 2002 @ 03:41 PM GMT
Dear Readers:
After posting our "farewell" message a few weeks ago, we were overwhelmed with a flood of emails from our readers. Messages conveyed a myriad of feelings, from sadness to gratitude to "outrage" as some phrased it.
Quite frankly, we have been so profoundly moved, and feel that we must put up a harder fight before dismantling. The strides we have made in a short period of time simply cannot be in vain.
We are hoping that the following strategy will be a way out.
The Palestine Chronicle needs very little to cover expenses for our staff in Palestine and the U.S., but these expenses must be covered. If we can raise a minimum of $50,000.00 this year, we will be able to continue publication and expand our services.
We would like to propose a "suggested subscription", where those who can afford to subscribe to this online service, do so.
We have a "whatever you can afford" subscription policy. This way our publication will continue to be open to all, regardless of their ability to pay.
However, readers who prefer a specified "suggested subscription" amount, can subscribe at $25.00 per year
Our readership is large and strong, and we have great hopes that this goal can be met with the generosity and backing of our readers. We will continue this voluntary subscription campaign for one month.
The Palestine Chronicle is only as strong as its supporters. Please, let’s pull together to serve this virtuous cause. Your subscription will carry us through this trying time.
