View Full Version : My Mother ..
Salam Alaikom,
Am I going to be punished by Allah when I lose my temper and shout at my mom to stop her outrageous actions? I love my mom so much, despite her bahaviour. I just want her to stop what she's doing, that's it. I don't mean to show her disrespect.
Thank you.

Assalaamu alaikum.
First of all, sis...Allah is the only one who knows what He will forgive, and what He will punish. Of course, one of the basic tenets of Islam is to show utmost respect to our parents, regardless of their religious beliefs. However, that respect is not to overcome or outshine any respect or obedience to Allah and His commandments.
About your shouting to your mom...perhaps that is the way that you have been raised, or the type of home that you are accustomed to living in...much shouting from both sides. Perhaps your mom only becomes more aggravated by such shouting matches.
Have you ever heard the old adage...that silence speaks louder than words? It holds true for shouting, as well, in that silence sometimes can be more deafening than the loudest of shouting. When she is in one of her shouting sprees, then sit back, take a deep breath to help yourself keep quiet at all cost, and then do that...keep quiet. Perhaps this is just a little taste of medicine that will help her to realize that shouting does no one any good.
An excellent suggestion was given by sister Nzingha...that councelling should be sought...by all involved. Also, do not forget the power of the prayer and dua. Pray for yourself, for your mother, for the family as a whole, and for a solution to the problems that are causing such discomfort in the family.
Om Mohammed.
Also, do
>not forget the power of
>the prayer and dua. Pray
>for yourself, for your mother,
>for the family as a
>whole, and for a solution
>to the problems that are
>causing such discomfort in the
>family.

as salaam alaikum
maybe instead of shouting you can try making dua.. or taking the time to go make wudhu and make to rakat so that your in a better frame of mind. Or recite some verse of Qur'an.. so that all may stop and reflect. This at least gives you time to cool out and than respond rather than just reacting to an already heated situation.
As for forgiveness from Allah He is very merciful sister, and Allah has said that we should repent and than not do the same thing over again. So seek Allah's guidance, forgiveness and inshallah Allah will have mercy on you as well as your family.
ma salaam

Asalamoalaikum
The status of parents is very high in islam.
And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents: in travail upon travail did his mother bear him, and in years twain was his weaning: (hear the command), "Show gratitude to Me and to thy parents: to Me is (thy final) Goal. Luqman ayat 32
