Best way to learn about Islam is by observing "practicing" muslims. Visit your nearest Islamic center/Mosque. If you go to Islamicfinder.com and enter your zip code it will give you addresses and phone numbers of Islamic center near you.

Also try to get an English translation of the Quraan. That is how most Americans get to learn more about Islam.
