On what grounds does Islam feel correct in rejecting Jesus as the Son of God?

In other words, why don't you believe in the divinity of Jesus?

Simply because the word of God rejects such a thing.

- Never do I argue with a man with a desire to hear him say what is wrong, or to expose him and win victory over him. Whenever I face an opponent in debate I silently pray - O Lord, help him so that truth may flow from his heart and on his tongue, and so that if truth is on my side, he may follow me; and if truth be on his side, I may follow him.

Among other verses in the Quran which deny and outwardly reject the Christian dogma and belief that Jesus is son of God...here is one basic and major quote to this effect.

It would also benefit you to study in your own bible, the many references to others before Jesus who were also referred to as son of God...not only Jesus. So...what is the big difference with Jesus? The bible is contradicting itself on this theory that Christians have developed into. Please study and compare, and study the Quran as well. Perhaps someday, you may be enlightened.

The quote above mentioned:

'O People of the Book! commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) A Messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God: glory be to Him: (far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.' s. 4, v. 171.

** You may notice the great tone of affection and respect offered to the Christians...the title they are named by in the Quran as 'people of the Book'. It is an all-encompassing term indicating not only Christians, but Jews as well...indicating those to whom have been revealed the divine messages throughout time. Or those believing in those messages. However, there is a complete other side to this story...that those previous messages were distorted and misinterpreted, therefore necessitating the revelation of a final and complete and this time protected message...protected from any attempt to differentiate, misinterpret or misrepresent. That is the message of Islam. The message of tawheed.

there are no refferances to anyone in the Bible as the Son of God to anyone but Jesus Christ.

I am also reading some of the Koran as well, as I come across questions I hope I can post them and get explinations.

Lulua, I must echo Livingforchrist in this. I just did a search in my Strong's exhaustive concordance, and there is no reference to any other "Son of God" except in Job, which appears to be referring to angels and is actually listed in the plural: "Sons of God."

Here is an article that might interest you all:

Jesus son of God???
This is not true of course. The proof is right there in the Bible itself!!

Although Jesus is refered to as son of God many times, the word son should be taken literary since many were called the sons of God. See Exodus 4:22 where Jacob is refered to as not only the Son of God but also his firstborn. Also see II Samuel 7:13-14 or I Chronicles 22:10 where Solomon is also the son of God. In Jermiah 31:9 Ephraim is God's firstborn!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this is really confusing so many sons and so many firstborns!!

In Deuteronomy 14:1 common people are called children of God. and in Romans 8:29 they are refered to as God's firstborn!!
So you are saying well Jesus is the BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD!!! ok...read Psalm 2:7 where David is the begotten Son of God. The word Son is not literal but metaphorical to mean someone beloved by God. So Jesus is not really the son of God, but someone whom God loves!

If you think he is the Son of God because he has no father then what is Adam. He got no father or mother.

Besides Jesus himself denied being the son of God. In Luke 4:41 "And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the son of God and he rebuking them suffered them not to speak for they knew that he was Christ"

It is clear he refused to be called Son of god. Same happened in Luke 9:20, 21, and he charged them too.

So Jesus is not the SON OF GOD!!!!!!!! By His own authority!!

Jesus himself speaks of the peacemakers as "sons of God" in Matthew 5:9.

In the days of Noah before the flood the bible says that the 'Sons of the true God were noticing the daughters of men and married them, all that they chose'. They had sons(hybrids)....giants in the earth(fellers). When the flood came these Sons of the true God forsook their materialised bodies and went back to heaven where they were relagated to dense darkness(no spiritual enlightment from God). They were angels that came down to the earth and had illegal relations with women. These are now demons with Satan the original fallen angel. Much of this is recorded in other parts of the bible such as Jude and Revelation. So usually in scripture the sons of the true God are in reference to angels. It is quite correct that Jesus was the first angel that God created. It is only God himself that had no beginning. His holy spirit is his active force(energy enamating from God). It has no personality of its own.
