Please change the discription of this BB. Currently it says:
"Islam and other religions, a dialogue between faiths around the World. Comparative religion, and the role of Islam in different societies where Islam is in majority or minority. An ideal place for discussion dealing with Jesus and the BIBLE. " -
Please change the word BIBLE and DIFFERENT FAITHS and DIALOGUE.
Thankyou!
Netty.

LAST EDITED ON 06-02-02 AT 03:19 PM (GMT)[p]If you want it just from the Islamic side.
How about this.
It is said Mohammed said that Islam will be split
into 73 sects - all will go to hell apart from one.
To my mind the clue here is 73.
In the Surah verse 73 (no accident, I think you
will agree) it says "They do blaspheme who say:
Allah is one of three in a trinity" (or words to that affect -
I got this from an Islamic web site so I can't say for certain
if its correct - but I am assuming it is).
Basically Christains believe verse 73 is explaining
their faith (the one of the 73 sects). We think it is
wrong to say God is one of three in a trinity - that is our
belief - NOT the islamic belief. We think it is wrong to think
god is one of three because we think god is THREE in one of a trinity (like the fundamental elements of the universe - Atoms and Quarks). If it is blasphemy to think god is one of three then the REVERSE of this is to think god is three in one - The Christian view - the 73rd sect of Islam.
ps - it is DEFINITELY NOT the Christian view that people will go to hell for having a different religion to christianity.

Why do you compare Allah with an atom?

LAST EDITED ON 07-02-02 AT 10:42 AM (GMT)[p]Why do I compare Allah to the
Atomic Stucture of the entire known
universe?
Good point.
My answer is - "it just occured to me that way".
However my ancestors compared God to a three
leafed clover (Ireland).
There are no snakes in Ireland. Is it god or
science that lead to there being no snakes in
Ireland? Both seem to be wrapped up together
- or at least that appears to be how the Koran
is written.
It is interesting to note that at one point Islam
(at its beginnings) had more or less all the known
science of the whole world at its feet - From Greece,
to India and Egypt. At the same time as this the
Western World (dark ages) just had a few Irish Monks.
The concept of Monasteries was founded in Egypt but
during the dark ages all was lost apart from the few
in Ireland. It was Irish monks who founded the beautiful
monasteries at Iona (Scotland) and Lindisfarne
(Northumberland) and then on to Germany - St Boniface
converted the Germans. From Germany sprang Protestantism.
From Protestantism strang the USA.
God Bless.
