This is a passage I take from a textbook. It is actually in Malay, I translate it to English. Please spend some time reading, there is a message behind.
In a dialog session organized by Sekolah Titiwangsa, Mr Lutfi, a leader of the family development program had answered several questions raised by some concerned students upon the development of families happening these days.
Hafizah: Mr Lutfi, your talk just now is great, especially about
the awareness of the society to produce a loving
community. Can you explain why this conciousness emerge?
Mr Lutfi: Such conciousness emerge because we want to see the
existence of a harmonious united community, far from
social signs that pursue the achivement of the society
and country. We want the coming generation to practice
pure values of living as families and a community.
Hafizah: This is a fine goal. So, how do we start such pure
intention?
Mr Lutfi: Actually Hafizah, our mother and father have earlier
design measures to that way.If we observe, they have
tried hard in giving all the comfort in our lives. They
always make efforts to manage a well-being family.
Azmi: Mr Lutfi.I always feel calm because my mother has served me
and therest of my family members with full of love.Everyday,
after outclass activities or extra classes, I try to come
back home as early as I could to be with my family.
Mr Lutfi: Conratulation! Azmi, because you know how to value the
love of a family.Usually, when you are at home, what do
you do?
Azmi: Usually, after a meal, we have a talk.Mother and father often
ask about my lessons and other matters which assosiate with
school. If there is a problem, I ask for their opinion to
solve it.
Mohan: I did that too, Mr Lutfi. After a rest, mother accompany me
druing finishing my school work. Then, we help both mother and
father to do houseworks.
Mr Lutfi: How about you, Hafizah?
Hafizah: Oh! yes, Mr Lutfi.Mother always concerns about our food
and drink.Usually, she would prepare them before heading to
work. She often telefon my siblings and I at home too.Father
is also like that. Both of them always make sure that we,
brothers and sisters, are not lonely and do our daily time
table activities.Mr Lutfi, My family and I do not face any
problems.
Mr Lutfi: That is good. What you all did have raised the seed of
responsibility toward family and this is the atmosphere
which can produce the intimate bond between family members.
Azmi: Pardon Mr Lutfi.I understand that each family member must play
his own role. So, what is the duty of a child in order to keep
happiness in a family?
Mr Lutfi: I suppose, the most important duty of a child is to respect
and cheer his parents up.If grandfather and grandmother or
uncle and aunt live with us, they need to be respected
too.Advises or remarks from other members have to be
considered. We also must be smart in winning their
affections.
Mohan: I agree with Mr Lutfi's opinion. If we think again, everything
that was done by parents is for our happiness.
Mr Lutfi: Correct, Mohan. It is not only for our happiness but the
whole family.
Hafizah: In this discussion, I assume that a loving society begins
with happy families. Is my assumption right?
Mr Lutfi: Yes, because family is a small unit of the society. When
each of these small units are able to be shaped with
success, automatically the big unit, the society, can
coordinate very well.As from that, our contributions to the
society is absolutely needed. It is what hoped by us.A happy
family will be the core of a loving society.Oh yes! Looks
like it is already enough for this session of asking
questions.Hopefully our discussion would bring benefits to
all of us.Thank you.
After this session of asking and answering, Mr Lutfi was bought to the guest room for a feast and at the same time mix around with the students and teachers of the school.
