Failure in raids induce Army troops to blow up house of Imam
Proxy war for US takes its toll
ANNU: Pakistan Army which is currently engaged in a proxy war to
protect the vested interests of United States in Pakistan has blown
up the house of Maulana Shams-ul-Haq, director of a religious school
at village Janikhel after failing to recover any suspect from his
home.
The Army Jawans, acting as mercenaries under the leadership of
General Pervez Musharraf, had besieged the village for the last two
days and had extended the ultimatum to surrender the suspects or they
would be attacked.
The villagers made it clear to the authorities that the suspects
which they had forcibly released from the custody of the FC troops
were not Arabs. They were local people and were arrested by the FC
without any justification, they told the officials.
But, the military which has been assigned a task to eliminate Muslim
organizations in the country, did not show any restraint and raided
the village. The villagers, respecting the law of the land, did not
resist and allowed the Army troops to search the houses freely.
About 700 armed tribesmen were already assembled near the village to
respond to the aggression of the Pakistan Army. But, on the appeal of
the villagers for restraint, the Army was able to search the whole
village without any untoward incident.
When the troops could not find any Arab or Indonesian in the village,
they got enraged and blasted the house of Maulana Shams-ul-Haq who
runs a small religious school at the village and leads the prayers at
the village's mosque.
The Army troops loyal to the United States have announced that they
would destroy all the houses in the village one after the other if
the villagers did not surrender the allegedly absconding Arabs. But,
the villagers said that they can't produce any foreigners as none was
staying with them.
Earlier the troops arrested eight elders and religious activists of
the village and sealed about forty small shops. Those who were
arrested include Maulana Aziz Khan, Maulana Nizamuddin, Sher Nawab
Khan, Janan Khan,
The colonialist attitude of the Army troops against the people of
their own country has stirred a wave of disgust and hatred against
the Army in the whole tribal belt.
The tribesmen in several parts of the tribal areas have condemned the
military operation and warned the authorities to mend their behaviour
or the tribesmen would be left with no option to resist the movement
of troops in the tribal areas.
A big gathering of the elders of various tribes of the area held at
Bannu to discuss the Army's moves in their area. They unanimously
decided to observe protest through out the tribal areas to condemn
the military operation against law abiding citizens of the area.
Official sources say that the operation is launched to punish the
tribesmen for getting forcibly released six or seven arrested Arabs
believed to be activists of so-called Al-Qaeda from the custody of
para-military forces camped in the area.
While, the tribal elders say that all the arrested persons were
Pakistanis and students of a local religious school. Copies of their
national identity cards were shown to the FC officials but the
ambitious FC troops were committed to get bonus in dollars by
implicating the students as Al-Qaeda activists.
