Open letter to Rev. Pat Robertson

On November 26, 2002 you gave an interview to Martin Savidge of CNN. Your interview proves that you certainly need help. I am sure you realize that telling a lie is a sin in Christianity. In your interview you tried to misguide and misinform people by making wrong remarks about "Jihad" and peaceful nature of Islam. Just reading the translation of Qur'an and quoting it's verses out of context is a big dishonesty and immoral.

Piety for the Young and Affluent

A new wave of trendy Islamic preachers has been targeting upper middle class young people -- with considerable success. Gihan Shahine investigates the phenomenon, and interviews Amr Khaled, the trendiest and, until recently, most successful of them all it was a summer evening like any other at Al-Shams Sports club in the upper middle-class neighbourhood of Heliopolis. A cool breeze carried the strains of a familiar voice; a voice with a reputation of winning the hearts of many of those who listen. Droves of people flocked to hear him. It was not the voice of a popular singer, it was Amr Khaled, the 34-year-old da'iya (Islamic preacher).

The Daily Addresses the MSA Controversy

Our treatment of the MSA’s accounting has, justifiably, sparked much anger and debate on campus. We took a simple story about a SSMU club’s financial accounting and spun it, by running a sensational cover, headline, and graphic, into an exposé that wrongly linked the MSA to terrorism. In so doing, we have contributed to a climate of suspicion and hostility post-September 11, 2001, one which has haunted McGill’s Muslim population, as well as Muslim communities worldwide. We acknowledge the systemic racism that people of colour are subjected to on a daily basis, and we deeply regret the contribution made to this by our coverage of MSA’s charitable donations.

The Nation is Captive to Alcoholism

God the Almighty gifted mankind with bodies, minds and nervous systems tailored for their benefit, but those who follow Satan's whispers consume alcohol which destroys the majority of organs in the human body: the stomach, liver, brain and heart. Alcohol stifles the mind from thinking and understanding. It off- sets clear thinking, leading those who indulge in it to commit crimes and destroy their own beings.

Transcript Of Robert Fisk Speech At Concordia University

I notice that Aaron did not say, "Turn off your mobile phones", and I'm not going to either. Just a few months ago, when I was in Ireland, I was giving a lecture I announced that anyone whose mobile phone rang would be sold into slavery. Immediately, a mobile phone rang, and it was mine. Keep your phones on - it's no problem.

Ladies and Gentlemen, September the 11th, 2001 did not change the world. I tell my colleagues, "Please stop printing and broadcasting those words." Over and over, after September the 11th, this had become one of the outstanding dangerous lies which we journalists have been propagating. September the 11th may give President George W. Bush the excuse to change the world but that should be exposed for what it is: a manipulation of grief and fear in order to start a war that has nothing to do with the international crimes against humanity which took place in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania just over a year ago. A war against a country -- yes, led by a monster - but a country which has nothing to do with those atrocities.
