As-Salamu-Alaikum
Narrated Abdullah:
The Prophet said, "Whoever has to take an oath should swear by Allah or remain silent." (i.e. He should not swear by other than Allah.)
Narrated 'Umar
The Prophet said, "If anybody has to take an oath, he should swear only by Allah." The people of Quraish used to swear by their fathers, but the Prophet said, "Do not swear by your fathers. "
According to both hadiths above, a person should swear only by Allah. Some other hadiths has stated that it can also be done by supremacy or characteristics of Allah.Sometimes I saw people swearing by the holy Quran, is it okay to do so? Are there any daleel that permits a Muslim to swear by Quran? Maybe I haven't come across such daleel. Can anyone help?
