View Full Version : Help Needed
Salam Alikom
Yesterday (4th of July) was abit of a nightmare for me. I was about to leave the house to meet with friends wearing my Salwar Kameez, and my mother changed saying it would offend people. When I got home, she gave me a 2 hour lecture about how horrible Islam is, and she even told me that if I wore hijab again on an American holiday she would place me in the street and run me over with the car. But I know have more strength than I have had in a long time. I have contacted every single link that I could find, and I even looked up the Association of Muslim Lawyers. I contacted them and insha Allah I will hear from them soon. I now have one more idea. I am going to ask all of you, if you feel you wish to participate, to write formal letters to the principal of my school. Below I have posted the pricipals name, and address. They might need my name.. so my real name is Hillary Corrigan, and no, I am not related to Hillary Clinton! I would appreciate everyones help in this. (Rose is my middle name)

Wa aliakum assalam,
That's horrible sister. My father is antagonistic towards me for reverting to Islam, but has never made threats of violence against me, he only says stupid stuff like "Islam is a violent religion spread by the sword" or "you want some bacon". (My parents also don't like me wearing my thobe and kiffayah). Fortunately July Fourth was a Friday so I was at the masjid most of the day or in my bedroom reading Hayakal's biography of the prophet. But I have to admit that all the American flags and patriotic stuff I find a bit annoying. Anyways insha'Allah I will make dua for you sister that Allah will give you strong Iman. And insha'Allah the situation will improve for you.
wasalam
Rose are you aconverted muslim with non-muslim parents?

Assalamu Alikom
yes Alik She is.
I ask everyone to make du'a for sis Rose as she is having a lot of trouble with her family right now. she was not allowed to sit on the computer, use the phone, etc ....
she had to secretly call me to let me know she is ok.
please make du'a for her that Allah keep her safe and steadfast inshaAllah.
This is very sad, indeed!! Perhaps a muslim family near her would like to let her live in their house? Also is she in the US? If so, then she could just go to the library and use the computers there. =]

Assalaamu alaikum.
As much as I know of her condition...her parents (mother in particular) are strictly against her decision to become muslim. And it is quite difficult to get to library even when the parents have grounded her and refused permission for her to go out. She is still in her teens...not yet past that critical '18' adult stage yet...and so literally and legally (according to US man-made laws) under the guardianship of her parents. And so in many things she has little or no say-so...even in the 'free' US of A.
Great...eh??
Freedom of religion...freedom of speech...so to speak.
Anyways...I think it quite proper and recommended that all reading this thread should keep our dear sis Rose in your duas...pray that Allah keep her strong and steadfast in her deen...and keep her upright until the time when she CAN get out and meet up with her fellow muslims in her community and worldwide...and to not let her lose faith. Ameen.
Lulua.
She can't even go to school?

Assalamu Alikom
as much as I hate this.. but I am one of those who adviced Rose to obey her parents until she is able to legally practice her rights!
I do not support her leaving her home nor do I agree with her living with some stranger even if they are Muslims... not all muslims are "angels".
I think the best we can do right now is to support her morally and keep her in our du'as... and if she really loves Allah... Allah knows this.. and will reward her for her intentions even if she is not practicing because of her condition. I have adviced her to pray in her room and stay away from trouble!
so please just make du'a for her
I have been making dua for her for many days now.

Assalaamu alaikum.
Alik-as far as I understand, I think that she does go to school. But only that. And right back home again.
And...Sr. Rasha has been right to advise her to obey her parents and to try to keep things as peaceful as possible. At least for the time being.
May Allah keep our dear sis Rose strong and firm in her faith, and keep the light of Islam alive in her heart until the time comes for her to get out on her own and establish herself publicly as a muslim. Ameen.
Lulua.
