Q: What is the Islamic stance regarding kidnappings & killings in Iraq and Russia?

Answer:

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Allah Most High has told us in the Qur’an:

005.008 O you who believe! Be steadfast witnesses for Allah in equity, and let not hatred of any people seduce you that you deal not justly. Deal justly, that is nearer to your duty. Observe your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is Aware of what you do.

005.009 Allah has promised those who believe and do good works: Theirs will be forgiveness and immense reward.

Islam is a religion that is based on Divine Revelation. This Divine Revelation is encapsulated in the Shariah that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) came with and which was preserved and interpreted in every generation by those whom the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) himself called his ‘inheritors’—the scholars of Sunni Islam.

The problem with the individuals behind actions such as the kidnappings in Iraq, or the monstrosity in Beslan is that they are motivated by their raw passions and act on ignorance. Thus, they are misguided, and act in misguided ways, while the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) told us that, “None of you believes until their whims are made to follow the guidance I have come with.” [Nawawi’s 40 Hadith, from Kitab al-Hujja; Nawawi said: it is rigorously authenticated (sahih)]

Those who take the law in their own hands are brigands and outlaws, and have nothing to do with the example of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), who was sent as a mercy to all humanity, a light of guidance, an exemplification of all good. Can any of us ever imagine the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) ever doing anything like these acts? Or condoning anything like this?

Assalaamu alaikum.

Thankyou, br. Asif...for posting this interesting and enlightening reminder. This is a point I have been trying to get across here for the longest time. The point that vengence killing or punishment of innocents caught in the wrong place at the wrong time...does not help the cause one bit. And...that by going outside of such rulings of Islamic teachings...it also puts up the muslims for being forsaken by Allah. For...Allah has set down a criterion for us to follow and mold our lives by. Even and including warfare. And when we ignore even the slightest portion of it...then we ourselves are putting up ourselves for a great and grave loss. And double time at that. For the loss will not only be a loss of this lifetime...but a loss of eternity as well. And that is the worst of fates, for sure.

I think that there is much to be gained by observing such viewpoints and taking them into serious consideration.

May Allah help and guide us all to that which is best.

Lulua.

It shall be interesting to read how the *more* fundamentalist on the board view this.

the *more* fundamentalist have said enough( you might have missed it) on this subject on another thread and are no longer dying to change the views of *moderates*.
.every soul is accountable for his/her choice/deeds.(Quraan)
.Unto you your religion , and unto me my religion .(Quraan)

if they are wrong they will pay the price and if moderates are wrong then they will pay the price....simple.at the moment their conscience is their guide and in the life to come Allah wil be their judge.

they are not only fundamentalists but are also not fanatics either i.e ''the ones who dont change their minds and dont change the subject either''

cos it is a rule of dawah/education that you can only do so much of it and after that you say salam and move away.

they are happy/proud/content with the title of *fundamentalist*...... :) , dont know how the moderates feel ... ;)

peace after justice
