Just a couple of questions before I address some of the authors assertions.
It is my assumption all the Muslims posting here live in some type of a Democracy. Is that assumption in error?
In what manner does living in a democracy prevent each of you, individually, from practicing your faith and following the laws of Islam?

I live in Usa.
I am stared and called obscenities when I where traditional clothing, the authorities don't do anything, often times they help the aggresor(s).
Examples as follows:
1-Rag Head
2-Sand Nigger
3-Terrorist
4-camel F***er
etc...
I am not allowed to enforces Islamic law even in cities populated by over 60% Muslims.I can't even set Islamic laws in my own home.Refer to your constittution.
I will never be given a fair trial (I feel like an African American now)
I am questioned and detained on suspicion not evidence.
I am not allowed to vote in an Islamic party not allowed
etc...

How does not being able to enforce Islamic Law, prevent YOU from adhering to it?
Why would you be going to trial?
I don't get the Islamic "Party" bit.

I voted and know of no one whom was illegally prevented from voting. Claims of rigged votes are from my fellow "liberals" whom are less gracious in defeat. America has been through this before with the occurence of the "Red Scare," and McCarthyism which too created an increase in fundamentalism. But reason soon won the day, this too shall pass.
If the election was "rigged" in anyway, it was through the addition of amendments in 11 states to ban homosexual marriage that brought the religious bigots out in droves to vote for Bush.
Part of the problem too, is in jan's ignorance of US politics. You see Americans live in a Republic, not a "true" democracy and the 2004 elections were just a minor skirmish in the war against the American Taliban and the messianic "mullah" Bush.
The resurgence of fundamentalism in the US can be laid squarely at the feet of Osama and 911, he wanted a religious war and now he has one - to the detriment of both Islam and Christianity. Osama has motivated the "God and Country" faction, leaving we true patriots silenced for the moment.
We secularists on the left must work to see Bush does no more damage in the next four years and then see that the president elected in 2008 is a rationalist.
once you speak a lie, then after that you have to speak a thousand more lies to justify the 1st one.....
and yes you wont lose your argument , just like the boy who made the bet that horse has five legs, even if he knows it has four legs but he will never lose until he accpets the fact.
but do we need to prove it has four legs......no, any body with eyes can see it for himself.
so my point the boy is only making a fool of himself!

If you want to call me a liar, you better darn well back it up. You have failed to so and I demand you retract your slur on my character.
any body who claims there wasnt a fruad in elctions decpite all the proofs , what do you call him? oh yes i forgot....the ''missinformed''...........there, are you happy now? i took the title of liar away from you and gave you your favourit one.
and retraction is a quality of greatness and humbleness, which is my goal inshaAllah. so thanks for improving my morals.
so my dear wildlifer you are still badly 'missinformed' and you seem to like it and hence reject any true information given to you. here is the information we all know. in the words of Justin Raimondo.
''While the public now knows that there were no "weapons of mass destruction," no lraqi links to 9/11, and no real threat to the U.S. posed by Saddam, the whole story of this administration's unparalleled mendacity has yet to be fully revealed.''
now the logical thing is to ask raparation from bush and co and not give him another chance to carry on his evil mission. and i beleive the US public has that much common sense and logic not to elect him again! so how come he got elected again? while not only the americans but the whole world is against bush!
you said,
''We secularists on the left must work to see Bush does no more damage in the next four years and then see that the president elected in 2008 is a rationalist.''
and just how will you see to that? how do we know that after 4 years you will not say, ''sorry folks we tried but failed''
here is a joke for you....... A said to B '' i bet i can eat your whole pizza without finishing it'' B got fooled by the challenge without thinking. A ate the whole pizza and finished it then said, ''sorry i failed''

It appears to be too late for that. As to what am I now "misinformed?" That I voted? Or that I know of nobody who was illegally prevented from voting?

But of course there is that little matter of Saddam being non-compliant to the '91 cease-fire agreement.

As long as hostages in Iraq are beheaded and car bombs and terrorists target civilians around the world, support for Bush will grow.

And what about it? Should we choose instead to blame others for our condition if we choose to do nothing to change the state of affairs? There is no shame in failure, the shame is in the lack of trying.

when ones object is to eat pizza, of course failure is the obvious result .

Dear members,
As-Salamu-Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah and Hello !
I would request each and every one of you to kindly refrain from indulging in attacks on others' characters. Such behaviour goes against the rules of this website and is unacceptable from an Islamic point of view. Let's just focus on the arguments and not the individuals making them.
Jazaakum Allah Khair and thank you.
Wassalam,
bye,
Asif.
