View Full Version : reality/joke
Assalamoalykum all
here is a reality turned into a joke
A man is taking a walk in Central park in New York.
Suddenly he sees a little girl being attacked by a pit bull terrier. He runs over and starts fighting with the dog. He succeeds in killing the dog and saving the girl's life. A policeman who was watching the scene walks over and says: "You are a hero, tomorrow you can read it in all the newspapers: "Brave New Yorker saves the life of little girl" The man says: - "But I am not a New Yorker!" "Oh then it will say in newspapers in the morning: " Brave American saves life of little girl'" - the policeman answers. "But I am not an American!" - says the man. "Oh, what are you then?" The man says: - "I am a Pakistani!"
The next day the newspapers says:
"Islamic extremist kills American dog. Connections to terrorist networks are being explored"
but one thing though only brave and true muslims still stick to their pakistani labels these days and the rest are very happy to trade this title with that of ''american dog'' in the price of a ''bone'' and a 'kennel' instead....
may Allah give muslim ummah the courage and true understanding of thier deen and give victory to the muslims Ameen

Well, there IS a catch to this story and it's 'punch line'. And that being that the man has identified himself as only a 'Pakistani'. The rest, resulting assumption that he is muslim...is just that...assumption. Whether it's true or not. Still, there is no mention of him being a muslim, hence the notable result of associating him as a muslim, and the claim against him the following day in the news.
There are many Pakistanis, and I know of some personally, who are not muslim, but Christian. Yet they are still Pakistani.
So...guess that we all...regardless of muslim or otherwise...need to take more care in claiming or laying guilt upon persons by mere name or national association.

pakistan is a muslim country, the whole world knows it. its majority is muslim ,the whole world knows it. christians are only 3% ( the whole world might not know this... ;) ).
so the probability of that pakistani in the park being a christian is 3/100, and being a muslim is 97/100....so my assumption has more chance of being accurate..... ;)
so when we are talking about pakistan we are talking about 97% of the muslims and not 3% of the christians. cos if we do then we will need to put a suffix of 'christian' with it like ''pakistani christian''...just like some muslims like to call themselves as 'british muslim''
here is an excerpt from an interview of a missionary in pakistan , that sums up my point and the view of that american policeman i.e all pakistani are muslims and hence are 'terrorists'....
and media will never ever make a mistake of calling a christian '' islamic extremist'' cos then bush will come under that catagory too... :D
i wonder what religion that policeman was? as there are lots of muslims in america too.... ;)
Last summer, an airport guard in Australia singled me out from the passport queue to double-check my passport [probably he thought I looked a bit like the Fundamentalist type]. He was very surprised to find out that I was a Catholic priest and his first question was, "What are you doing in Pakistan anyway?" Pakistan is an Islamic country but it does have a Christian minority. Not a big minority percentage-wise [about 3%]

Sis...I know and am quite familiar with the low percentage rate of non-muslim Pakistanis. I just mentioned this, basically because of my own interaction with and acquaintance with some Christian Pakistanis. Perhaps quite a rare thing...but it is true nevertheless.
Just raising the point that...regardless of who is the author of this joke...still...we all have to be aware and remind ourselves not to set judgement upon peoples, and we must watch out for what assumption we make of peoples based upon their nationality or place of birth.
As for me, I have found that many people I meet on the net refuse to believe or find it hard to believe that I am american. American by birth only...I no longer live there. But still american all the same. I only make national association for the sake of interest of geographic and historical residence. It is the Islam which matters more than any nationality.
Sorry to put a 'damper' upon the joke u raised here. Got the idea...and found it rather amusing. But still...we need to remind ourselves to beware of putting people into titles just because of their lineage or place of birth. In fact, Islam teaches quite firmly against such classifications.

the point of the joke which is also a reality is that media is trying to demonise islam and muslims at every cost even if they have to lie and make the reality quite opposite to what it is. and this is what you call dajjalic times i.e lies and deceptions.
so you still miss the point, it is not about the nationality, but the religion, which you forgot to mention in your post. and it is for this reason that after 9/11 even some hindus got attacked by kuffar... , simply cos they look like pakistanis.
ok.... now to take the damper off the joke, here is some more analysis of it.
the joke also points to one more thing, and that is ''that an ordinary pakistani is braver than american policeman!! one was fighting the dog while other was a spectator''... :D
may Allah give us the wisdom to do the right thing always Ameen
