View Full Version : Mullah Nasruddin: his house was burgled
Mullah Nasruddin and his wife came home one day to find the house burgled. Everything portable had been taken away.
- It's all your fault, said his wife, for you should have made sure that the house was locked before we left.
The neighbours took up the chant:
- You did not lock the windows, said one.
- Why did you not expect this? said another.
- The locks were faulty and you did not replace them, said a third.
- Just a moment, said Nasruddin, surely I am not the only one to blame?
- And who should we blame? they shouted.
- What about the thieves? said Nasruddin. Are they totally innocent?

Thanks bro tayeb. Always welcome a break :D :D
Assalaamu alaikum.
MashaAllah...little bit of humour, mixed in with such truth!!
My house was burglared several months ago. Some very valuable stuff was taken.
And I had lots of comments from some of my family members-complaining against me that I had not put those things in the safe.
But they were in an upper hard-to-get-at (apparently not too hard) cabinet, locked in that cabinet, inside my bedroom, which was locked, inside my locked house.
The burglars apparently got in thru an exhaust fan in the bathroom which is contained within the bedroom area. And they had to get back out that same small opening, for they did not break open the bedroom door, which was locked. Nor was their any other apparent area of forced entry or exit from the house. (i.e. all doors were locked as we locked them, when we returned home the following day).
My son had been home earlier that evening, as I sent him to get some things from my bedroom, and he locked it up again as it had been (for I had to unlock it to get back in). And we returned hom the following day.
That means that the burglary took place sometime later that night or early in the morning next day.
Anyways, when I was getting angry responses from family for being 'negligent' by leaving things in my room...I simply reminded them that I was not the one who broke into the home and stole things. I had put things away in cabinets, locked those cabinets, and locked my room and my house before leaving.
I did not invite anyone to come and steal from it.
SubhanAllah.
So true were the words of the sheikh.
Are the burglars to be rendered innocent while we the victims are to be held guilty for having valuable things in our homes??!
Alhamdulillah, they have finally caught the thieves. Their sentencing is still waiting them.
If need be, I shall press charges to the fullest.
Lulua.
Wa-alaikum-as-salaam sr Lulua:
I'm sorry you went through such hard times. In fact thieves should be severely punished in an examplary manner.
While doing tawaf, during Hajj, this past January, I was scarcely 3 or 4 meters away from hajr-e-aswat, the black stone, and somebody tried to steal from my purse inside my ehram. By Allah's miracle, I could hear a voice saying in my ear "thief, stealing from your purse". The pushing and shoving was hard, but I managed to hit hard the hand of the man, and tried to grab him. Being a "professional thief" he just stopped where he was, and due to the movement of the people I was soon far in front of him, and couldn't go back to catch him. It's really truly shameful that in Islam's Holiest place there are thieves, may Allah curse them. I swear by Allah that had I caught him I would have made sure in handing him over to the guards, so that he would be severely punished.
I was not going to talk about this unfortunate incident, but I thought it's such a long time and perhaps it may confort you sr Lulua, knowing how bad the things are nowadays that you find thieves even in holiest places. May Allah protect us from fitnah.

I am so sorry to read about both of your experiences. My family has been burgled too and I can tell it is a very shocking experince (not for the material things themselves but for someone invaded your house who should be the safest place).
It is a shame what happened to you Tayeb. It's especially sad that criminals use such an important event to do their misdeeds. Sadly some people don't respect even the holiest places.
