MARCH FOR PEACE AND LIBERTY

Called by Muslim Association of Britain, Stop the War Coalition and CND

Date: Saturday 24th September 2005

Assemble: 1200 Parliament Square

Reg Keys and Peter Brierley, two fathers of soldiers killed in Iraq will address the demonstrators before the march to Hyde Park begins at 1300

The events in Basra earlier this week prove the most pressing need to withdraw our troops from Iraq, the coalition forces are seen as an occupying force, and their continued presence in the region exacerbates the instability in Iraq. Far from being seen as liberators, our troops are in the firing line. Almost 100 British soldiers have died so far; it’s time the British government put a stop to this senseless loss of life by immediately withdrawing our troops, occupation and freedom do not co-exist.

“Blair’s belligerent foreign policy has caused the death of more than 100 000 innocent Iraqi’s. The Bush/Blair “war on terror” has not made the world a safer place; on the contrary, it has increased the threat of terrorism and the tragic events in London on 7th July clearly illustrate this. 85% of the population recognises that there is a direct link between the dreadful bombings in London and the illegal invasion of Iraq.”

His proposed “anti terrorism measures” are a huge assault on our civil liberties and freedoms. After the tragic death of Jean Charles de Menezes, each and every one of us should be against the shoot to kill policy which was swept in without recourse to Parliament. We all have a duty to demonstrate to show our absolute opposition to Blair’s attempts to erode Britain’s international reputation as upholding civil liberties and freedoms.

Join the demonstration on sat 24th Sept: end the occupation, defend our civil liberties.
