View Full Version : Hamas, Fatah, Israel & Islam
What do our members think of what is happening today in Palestine in general & Gaza in particular. Will Islam now become the governing force in secular Palestine or will the world starve the Palestinians into submission? What is your view?

Greetings Drooge.
I've moved your post to the Current Affairs forum as I felt that this was the best place for this discussion, hope this doesnt cause any problems. I do however think that this is a good question, and look forward to the responses.
I see this is your first post? Welcome to our group and I look forward to reading more from you into the future insha'Allah.
Welcome Droodge,
Muslims are the majority party in palestinian parlament. There are minorities in Palestine and their interests must be safeguarded. I beleive Hamas is sufficiently mature as a political party to safeguard the rights of minorities.
Now on the question of Palestine, the palestinian people have chosen Hamas to be their government. What we are seeing that is happening is sheer hyprocrisy, as the question that's placed is whether democracy means choosing governments that Israel and the West want. If the ballot box can't choose then the democracy that's talked about is a big lie.
On Hamas, the reason that's given for the boycott by the West and Israel is that they haven't renounced violence and do not accept the existance of Israel. The fact they are a Muslim party hasn't been mentioned so far. Perhaps that's what they will say next in case Hamas renounces violence, in my understanding they have the right to defend themselves, and capitulates in accepting the Israeli occupation.
Yasser Arafat was a secularist and despite that fact Israel and America didn't accept to work with him and isolated him. So I doubt that even if Hamas becomes secularist, they will please Israel, after all the occupying power and cause of the whole trouble in the Middle East.
Perhaps other members might want more points of view.
