Lal Masjid Massacre

You have seen us on the news
Heard many stories
Mostly negative
Don’t blame you if you hate us
But now its time to hear our views

You have seen men with beards and turbans
Women with faces covered and sticks in one hand
Children shouting militant slogans
We don’t blame you if you are scared

Who are we?
Are we mad, raving lunatics?
Intent of destruction and mayhem
Or are we human and Muslim just like you?

You have seen the house of Allah surrounded
Helicopters and armed soldiers
Used to attack us in our place of worship and home
You have seen bodies flooding out
Most believed the official version
But some sincere Muslims have doubts
Questions and criticisms

Do we not deserve justice and a fair hearing?
Or is it ok for us to be butchered like animals at Qurbani?
Over hundred plus dead and even more wounded
Mass graves an ups
Some witnesses say 1500 martyred
what was our crime and who convicted us in what court?

If you’re willing to listen and think for yourself
Then here is our story

We are Muslims
Just like you
Believe in Allah and his book and Prophet
We accept all the verses and hadith
Regardless of the change in time and place
Islam is not only in our hearts
But in our actions too

We saw the evil all around just like you do
We felt angry and sad like everyone else
Pakistan established in the name of Islam
But where is Islam in society we asked?

Musharaff came
some people applauded
Need for change from the Bhuttos and the Nawaz Sharifs
what has he delivered?
A partner in America’'s war against Islam
Thousands of Muslims dead
And open vice and evil everywhere

Brothels even next to masjids
Corruption so open
Modernisation and progress some say
It’s the price we pay
For being Secular

Islam inside people’s hearts
While the decadent values tear our nation apart
Polarisation
Islamists and Secularists
With millions in the middle

So we took a stand
Against those who do evil
Used our hands
To change the condition of the people
We expected the Government to attack us
But we expected better from our brothers and sisters

Do you not wish to live in a better society?
Free from corruption and evil
Based upon the Prophets Sunnah
Where your daughters can walk without being molested
Your sons can get jobs without paying bribes
And the nation’s wealth will be utilised for the ummah

So we suffered the consequences of our sincerity to Allah
We have no regrets
After all death is decreed by the creator
We leave this world working for Allah’s deen
You and us will meet again soon
Where the only currency will be good deeds
So take advantage of the time you have left
And read the Quran and Sunnah with an open mind
And act upon its commands
InshAllah

translation:

Shaheed are saying, do not forget our blood
Vow to us O brave ones! That you will not forget our enemy

The enemy of the deen is our enemy and he is the robber of the honours
So don’t forget the blood soaked torn hijabs

That destroyed home and abandoned streets, those burning gardens and sad buds
And promise you won’t forget the tears of crying mothers

The ones who crushed the flowers of the garden and trampled upon the buds
Just chop those hands and feet, don’t forget this duty of yours

Listen to what shaheed are saying to us:

After doing wudu from our blood ,we have been victorious in the sight of God
We have fulfilled our promise so you don’t forget yours

Shaheed are saying,do not forget our blood
Vow to us O brave ones! that you won’t forget our enemy.

Red Mosque Turns Green

By Aamir Latif, IOL Correspondent

ISLAMABAD — For as many months, people across the world became so familiar with Islamabad's pride "Red Mosque" over a standoff between the government and its controversial scholars, which ended with a bloody, tragic note.

But it seems the government is not satisfied with the ending and is trying to change the entire image of what was for years the capital's largest mosque, replacing its famous red color with green.

Ferocious bulldozers are working around the clock to remove the debris mixed with charred pieces of human bodies, clothes, books and pages of the Noble Quran.

But there will be no Red Mosque in Islamabad from next Friday as hundreds of laborers are busy day and night in repainting the mosque, which will be known as Harri Masjd (Green Mosque).

A senior official told told IslamOnline.net on the condition of anonymity that the government has decided to change the color fearing that the original red color will be a reminder of the bloody military operation that killed hundreds of students, including women and children.

The government claims that some 103 people were killed in the eight-day battle while scores of people are running from pillar to post for clues about the fate of their missing kids who were inside the mosque during the military assault.

"There is no such reason behind that. It was not know as Red Mosque because of the red color as such. It was just a nickname that was carried on," argued Kamran Lashari, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

"Only the color of outer walls of the mosque was red. Otherwise, from inside it had different colors," he told IOL.

Lashari said that the outer portion of the mosque will be painted beige, while the entire inner side, including the two minarets, will be green.

The Red Mosque was founded by Maulana Abdullah Ghazi in 1965.

Painted With Blood

Students believe the government's move would not change anything.

"It doesn't matter what will be the color of the Red Mosque," Imama, a student of Jamia Hafsa, told IOL.

"They (security forces) had already colored the mosque with the blood of my brothers and sisters," she said fighting back her tears.

"They can change the color, but they cannot remove the blood of my brothers and sisters from the walls of the mosque. They can just hide that but cannot remove that."

The CDA has declared Jamia Hafsa, a subsidiary girls school of the Red Mosque, "dilapidated" and plans to demolish it.

"Jamia Hafsa has been badly damaged during the operation. Therefore, we have decided to demolish it," Lashari said.

"So far we have demolished 30 percent of seminary," he added.

The official said that a portion of the Red Mosque, which was reportedly illegally constructed on government's land, will also be demolished.

Even laborers busy in removing the debris are experiencing a certain feeling of fear.

"I can't explain the feeling. Whenever I look at the building, I feel I am at a haunted place," one laborer told IOL, wishing not to be named.

He insisted he was not alone.

"We all are feeling the same. You can see cats and hens here searching for food. They often appear with pieces of flesh, which gets us frightened," said the visually moved man.

"When I see charred body parts, and pages of Holy Quran in the debris, I shiver. I have strong nerves, but I simply can't bear with that."

s3, br

Isn't there a saying 'a rose by any other name smells just as good'?

Perhaps the General should paint the masjid red, white and blue?
