Since this board is portugese and the McCann case is on the front page of half the newspapers around the world perhaps you need a McCann thread here.

Is it true that the head of the portugese police investigation into the case is being arrested for torturing a woman into falsely confessing that she killed her child? This baby also was never found but in this case the mother was locked up for many years. Do the portugese police use torture?

A lot of the UK press seemed to be 100% convinced that the McCanns killed their child (especially the Murdoch sun). Is that how it is in Portugal too? Do the portugese papers also think they did it?

There does seem to be a rash of murdering doctors recently - eg the Doctor Shipman and recently the Muslim Doctors trying to blow up glasgow Airport (Abdulla, Dr Mohammed Asha, Dr Sabeel Ahmed).

Whats your view? Do you think they did it?
I think its pretty 50-50 - going by the press reports. Almost impossible to differeniate the truth from ficition. Some people are saying the police are "fitting-them-up" to get them out of the country as they are bad for the tourist industry.

Dear John,

This board isn't portuguese. I as Admin am portuguese citizen. The site is lodged in France. The domain name is american. The moderators are from all over the World.

Now on McCann's case personally I refuse to believe that little Madeleine was murdered or kidnapped by her parents. The story being put out shows the incompetence of our scientific police (PJ Policia Judiciaria). The whole investigation seems to be flawed and shows that something is terribly wrong with way portuguese investigative police and justice work.

Time will tell God willing what happened to little Madeleine. I solidarise with her family and I understand their pain.

Ma'a-salaama,
