Question: This question is from England. The brother asks about the Hadeeth where the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said, "Allaah will not accept the excuse of any person whose instant of death is delayed till he is 60 years of age".Could you please explain this Hadeeth.

Answer: The hadeeth is not like this. He said "Allaah سبحانه و تعالى will not accept the excuse of any person whose instant of death is delayed until he is 60 years of age." Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said: "Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has given no excuse for one whose death is delayed until he reached 60 years old." [1] It doesn't mean He سبحانه و تعالى will not accept his tawbah (repentance), but he has been given a greater chance than one who dies younger, like in his twenties or forties. This person has reached sixty and Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has given him a full age (lifespan) and he has reached the age of weakness (old age). He should submit to Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and return (to the good deeds) and avoid the bad deeds because he has reached the age where his intention for the shahwah (desires) is weak, not as it is in the young, and still he is doing the bad deeds. But it doesn't mean that Allaah will not accept his tawbah for Allaah forgives and pardons and He سبحانه و تعالى has given him a lot of chance to submit and return to good deeds and leave off the bad deeds; and I think this is the meaning of the hadeeth.

Asalam o Alaikum, I visited many sites. I answered many questions. Had have a real hot debate. Fought with words even. But I happened to come to a point where I can't find guidance. This matter which is disturbing me is Apostasy. In Koran Allah says that There is no compulsion in Islam. But some scholars say a person who leaves Islam is to be killed.

Can any one explain and shed some light on this matter.?
