Democracy in Pakistan

Our Intellectual Growing

When I discuss a thing with a person or my friends. They don’t listen me and just talk their own views. They interrupt me in mid sentence. They don’t understand me when I say something. When I want to explain , they don’t have the patience to listen to me. Despite of the fact that they are more advanced academically than me. But sadly they are far behind in the intellectual grooming. Our educational institutions and our parents have deeply disappointed me.

When they talk, they talk their own views. Their educational foundation is weak. They are limited to course books. They lack knowledge. Their arguments are groundless, baseless. They are amateurs.

When they analyze, they don’t see all the corners of a situation. They can’t judge. They can’t differentiate between the circumstances of statements or situations they quote in the discussion and our circumstances. They can’t understand the practibility of their views.

They don’t have the intellectual peak, I need for my views for understanding and my intellectual salvation. In simple words they are not truly educated.

Our Cradles

Our educational institutions and our elders both can’t provide us the environment and grooming we need. They are busy ignorant as well as lazy. They provide material but they don’t provide spirit.

The intellectual atmosphere is not provided in even so called high level educational institutions. Through our teachers’ lectures to the examination process, whole of the system is rotten. I see more politics in educational institutions than education. Bitterly speaking but truthfully speaking our educators are themselves uneducated.

Children of the powerful bully the teachers . Students don’t want to study. Teachers don’t want to teach. They are not given sufficient wages. They are untrained. They lack facilities. They find students to be weak in fundamental education. How can strong building be built on weak foundations.

Caste System

We believe still today that people of certain castes are the cursed ones according to our family prejudices. However, genetics can be made mild through change of environment and education. IT is the heritage and customs which are to be blamed and not the castes. Islam came giving the argument that leave the rotten and old customs of your forefathers. Adopt the new enlightened system given by Islam. So castes are not a curse. It is the environment and customs which make these a curse. Lift the evilness from inherited values and then see how far you can go in the ethical horizons of the society.

Democracy

When we are intellectually backward. When we are not tolerant to listen others’ views. When we are not educationally groomed. When we don’t want to leave evil customs. When we are rotten in the spirit. How can we behave, debate and see policies in the parliament as civilized educated people. Democracy is not just merely a word. Democracy is the name of spirit. We have to wake up that spirit in order to achieve our ultimate goal i.e. prosperity. Intellectual grooming, patience and education are the keys which can trigger the wakening of that spirit. If we are to continue this savagery, of intellectual ignorance and just laugh out as if this is not our country and as if we are not it’s part then my friends we will be enslaved in this destructive loop of tyranny and humiliation, not by foreign hands but our own irresponsiveness at this critical and decisive moment in the history of our nation.

Education in Islamic Way

Today from a madrassah, a person spending six years comes out as a graduate having a label of Aalim. But he is separate from the judge in the court. He is separate from the Finance Minister in the parliament, He is separate from the engineer working on a project.

Madrassahs as well as these normal educational institutions are both un Islamic. Islam doesn’t teach to memorize certain amount of books, probably three centuries old. Islam also discourages us to live a secluded life in a cave away from this world. Islam is a religion which encourages struggle and some movement.

In reality what Islam teaches us is that, the Minister, the Engineer should themselves be Alims. Having an education in which previous sharias are also discussed and other systems of the world are also discussed as well. In which science and religion are united. In which Quranic verses are put under the microscope of settled philosophies which are not theories but facts. And in which those theories and philosophies are also put under the Quranic microscope. The true combination of Islam’s ideology with the settled facts of nature through the experiences of the world as well as scientific and conceptual study and a very thorough study of the world’s developments and what Islam says and then presenting them in a combined way in a kind of synthesis which doesn’t damage Islam is the true Islamic way of education.

In this process filtration method has to be taken care of. As if we don’t take care, we will destroy the essence of this concept and it will do harm to Islam and no good. Those ideas and those findings and that kind of ideology which agrees with Islam, accept it make it your part. Those theories which don’t agree with Islam, reject it or mold it to make it agreeable.

Islamize the western concepts and mold them according to your region’s environment. Observe the concepts of east and west and learn from them. Turn the tide of those concepts in Islam’s favor. Learn to see all the four corners of the square. Don’t leave Islam but leave the traditional way of perceiving Islam.

Islam is right. We have faith in it but researching on it , understanding it and seeing it through scientific method will strengthen this faith. It in no sense can weaken our faith.

We leave our understanding and knowledge of Islam on Mullahs who are ignorant. We are used to rote system which is the key of intellectual disaster. Conceptual Practice which instills the spirit of a subject in your mind is better than merely memorizing numerous volumes written by others.

A common man just reads a writer’s work. A wise man learns, does research and experiments and then writes his findings.
