Is it necessary for a believer to call himself Muslim only?

1. Is it necessary for a believer to call himself Muslim only? What about the other names which are common among the followers of Islam?

Allah, the Almighty has given all believers one religious name and that is Muslim. The Quran states in Chapter 22 Verse78: "Allah has named you Muslimeen, both in this (Quran) and also (in the books) before it". When any person who believes in Allah comes to know that his Creator has given him a religious name, then his faith demands that he identifies himself with the same name. Other names which are common among this Ummah Have Not Been Revealed By Allah but they are invented names which have divided this Ummah into sects and groups.
